Seize The Day...

Due to my Dad's recent passing and my divorce, after over 14 years of marriage, I literally can't wait for 2013 to finish. Both of these life changing events will never be far from my mind in 2014 but I know that my Dad would want me to get on with things and "suck out all the marrow of life". As I said in my previous post my Dad never wasted a single day and that is a pretty good thought to start the new year..

I hope everyone out there has a great 2014...Happy New Year folks...Carpe Diem

For My Dad..

And did you get what
you wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
beloved on the earth.

Just over 3 weeks ago my Dad died suddenly. I had only been talking to him a couple of days prior and was looking forward to seeing him a few days later. So many things still to say..I thought I had time on my side...

Whilst sorting through his belongings I found many old family photographs that I had not seen for a while going right back to my Great Grandparents, including the one at the top of this post of my Dad in his early 20's on a bus trip to Ayr in the mid 60's, that I have always loved. He just seems so happy, with his warm, open smile that was always there for everyone. He lived his life to the full, not wasting a single day...

Of the many cards we have received over the last few weeks one in particular sums up my Dad where he is described as "an honest, hard working, generous, fun, intelligent, inspiring man. And for being a gentleman. Above all else"

My Dad was beloved by so many people...we will all miss him dearly..
