and even more new music...

Big thanks to Charity Chic and The (new) Vinyl Villain for introducing me to the hugely infectious sound of Teen Canteen. It's not hard to work out why they have garnered big name endorsements from Scottish Indie royalty like Duglas T Stewart, Eugene Kelly and Belle and Sebastian's Steve Jackson. They really are a breath of fresh air with their mix of Shangri La's vocals, Phil Spector beats and sunshine harmonies. Perfect to brighten up another day of dreekit rain in the fair city of Glasgow. Comprised of four girls in their mid 20’s from Edinburgh, they have already graced the stages of Wickerman and T In The Park and look set to take 2015 by storm. If you are a fan of girl group harmonies and a DIY aesthetic all delivered in lovely Scottish accents, you will take them to your heart as many have already done.

  1. Haha, you beat me to it! I've been listening to the 3 or 4 available Teen Canteen tracks on repeat since I commented on your last post an hour ago and was just about to start on my own post about them! They really are very good indeed. The Shangri-La's meet Altered Images is what I wrote down. Pop perfection. I'm expecting big things from them this year.

Drew - they really are good, I've yet to hear a bad track by them. Could be wrong here but I think the single was recorded in Strathaven...
