Don't Tell Your Mother...
Tonight's track is specially for fellow bloggers George (Jim McLean's Rabbit) and CC (Charity Chic Music). It follows on from comments left after yesterday's Kate Bush post and features the beautiful, unique voice of Harriet Wheeler, the lead singer of late 80's/early 90's indie darlings, The Sundays.
The Robster (Is This The Life?) will be doing a post in the next week or two on their debut album, so just to whet your appetite here is one of my favourite Sundays tracks from the flip side of the 12" of their debut single, Can't Be Sure.

ReplyDeleteCheers Scott. As George says a nice pop ditty.looking forward to more from the Robster
ReplyDeleteDivine. Think I'll bring my Sundays post forward a week or two while the interest is high.
ReplyDelete*secret: when my daughters were born and we were naming them, I offered Harriet on my list in honour of Harriet Wheeler. TheDoopster (youngest) is therefore named after the lovely Ms. Wheeler.....
naming your offspring after people in the music industry?Excellent. Our cats have names derived from bands. The dogs don't.
DeleteMrsRobster isn't aware of this, of course. She just liked the name. She dismissed some other names out of hand, but then Bjork wouldn't have suited her anyway...
DeleteMy mate had a cat called Weezer!
Love that your daughter is named after Ms. Wheeler, looking forward to your post Robster..
DeleteI'm looking forward to TheRobster's post. The Sunday's debut LP is a timeless classic in my opinion. At no point since its release has it sounded even slightly tired, dated or out of step.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear 'Don't Tell Your Mother'.
It's a track you don't hear very often these days, released at a time when b sides still mattered...
DeleteThere was a brief time when all the girls in the indie disco looked like Harriet
ReplyDeleteSwiss Adam
I must have been going to the wrong indie disco's SA.
ReplyDeleteDressed like Harriet might be more accurate.
ReplyDeletewe had a cat called Husker (as in Du)
