Some Sunday Soul

If ever I done slow dancing, today's choice would be a perfect end of night slow dance. I just love the smoothness of Barbara Lewis' voice and Hello Stranger showcases it to maximum effect. She had a style that was somewhere in between the lighter poptones of the likes of Diana Ross and the more fiery vocals of the likes of Aretha. Timeless, tender and romantic, this is sheer quality that just goes to show that you don't have to perform vocal gymnastics to have soul. There is a kind of bossa nova feel to the rhythm section that works so well with that understated, lovely organ motif that runs through the track...sublime...

  1. Beautiful - and that organ motif is to die for.

  2. Very good Scott. It sounds very familiar, somehow, but I'm not sure I've heard this version before.
