More New Music....

This Monday sees the release of the second EP from Suse Bear and Julie Eisenstein, collectively known as Tuff Love. Championed by the likes of Vic Galloway, Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq and everyone's fave comedienne Josie Long, amongst many others, they are yet another of the many reasons why Glasgow is the place to be at the moment. Formed through a love of The Breeders and Bikini Girl, they came to the attention of former Fence Collective boss, Johnny Lynch who immediately signed them to his new Lost Map label. So taken was Johnny with them that he took to sending hand written letters to journalists letting them know how good his new signing were, and with much justification. Their debut EP, Junk, came out last May and their fuzzed up, lo-fi pop music was a much needed breath of fresh air. Both EP's have been written and recorded in a flat in the West End of Glasgow and already you can see the makings of a great band. So many Scottish bands over the last 35 years or so have understood the essence of great pop music from Orange Juice and Aztec Camera through The Jesus and Mary Chain and Teenage Fanclub and onto new bands like Tuff Love and Honeyblood. These girls write top pop tunes and hopefully 2015 will be the year of Tuff Love.
