Some New Music...

Hailing from Reykjavik, Young Karin were founded in the winter of 2013 after Logi Pedro Stefánsson met Karin Sveinsdóttir at a high school song contest. After a short stint under the name Highlands they changed to their current moniker. They released their imaginatively titled debut EP, Number 1, to huge critical acclaim last year and it has just won Debut Of The Year at the Iclandic Music Awards (Iceland's version of The Brits). Influenced by modern day hip hop and avant-garde pop, they are not too dissimiliar in sound to Glasgow's very own Atom Tree. There is a wealth of really great electronic music being made at the moment and Young Karin are definitely at the forefront of it, with Logi's textured synth sounds being tailor made for Karin's blissful vocals.

Hope you enjoy....

  1. Hi Scott. This is a little out of my comfort zone, but I can still appreciate it. Then there is that Icelandic accent... have always loved it... and Karin's is especially beautiful.

  2. Thanks for this - a new one on me, and I'm really enjoying electronic music at the moment, so it fits well. If I had heard it without your introduction here I really would have thought it was Emiliana Torrini.

  3. Brian, it's a bit out of my comfort zone as well, but recently have started to listed to quite a lot of electronic music and have found a lot of really good stuff. This one is definitely helped by that Icelandic accent.
C - as with you I am really enjoying the new electronic music that is out there at the moment. It's not what I normally listen to but have started to enjoy what I have heard recently.
