Mind Your Own Business...

Clearly influenced by fellow Leeds agitproppers Gang Of Four, Delta 5 released a few decent singles in the late 70's and early 80's before releasing a fairly average album in 1981. Those early singles, in particular Mind Your Own Business and Anticipation, were intelligent, spiky, funk-punk slabs of vinyl that piqued the interest of none other than John Peel. With a sound driven along by two bass players and some great angular guitars they were probably too far ahead of their time and their influence can certainly be heard in bands, over 20 years later, like Franz Ferdinand. Dislocated dance never sounded better...

  1. I've done a few dislocated dances in my time Scott!

    1. It's the best form of dance CC. I'm very much of the Jarvis Cocker School Of Dancing. Not really sure if I am a danger to myself or others when I hit the dance floor.

  2. So has Scott, CC. You showed us the other day. One of those names I have heard many times, but I don't really know this band. Sounding pretty good right now.

    1. The early singles are well worth listening to Brian. There was a Singles and Sessions album that came out in 2006 that is worth getting hold of if still available.

  3. Yes, this is another tune that Peel introduced me to. Still sounds punchy, angular and fresh as a daisy.

    1. Hi Swede, I was pleasantly surprised when I listened to it last night how fresh it still sounded. As does The Gang Of Four's stuff from that time...
