Some Sunday Soul...

From the same stable as James Carr comes one of the best Southern Souls singers, Spencer Wiggins. Equally at home singing gospel and blues, Spencer recorded most of his material at Goldwax including today's track which was the b side to 69's I Never Loved A Woman. Simply just good, honest soul music backed by that always wonderful Memphis sound. While maybe not quite up there with his label mate, he is still an incredibly powerful soul singer who could take any soul tune and make it his own.

  1. This really rocks, Scott! What a great voice. He was equally adept at ballads - check out 'Uptight Good Woman' if you haven't already heard it.

    1. Hi Marie, it's just one of those records that you want to dance to as soon as it comes on. Just listened to Uptight Good Woman, you were spot on with your recommendation. Just heading over to listen to some Northern Soul at your site...
