I Fell for You and I Knew...

Back to the music today after yesterday's rant...and what better way to start off a Friday than with some Doo-wop, courtesy of The Penguins, with the lovely Earth Angel. I bought some Doo-wop albums a few months ago from Fopp, here in Glasgow, and have really started to appreciate what great music so many of these bands were producing in the 50's. I don't know much about The Penguins, but something about this track really stood out. The vocals are just magnificent, there is something really heartfelt about them that just seemed to connect with me when I heard it and the lyrics, although a bit mushy, are just beautiful. Hope you enjoy...

  1. Heartfelt indeed Scott. There's a lot of Doo Wop collections out there, I have some of the Flip Doo Wop series, from Ace, for example.

    1. I definitely need to check out some more collections. Had a look at the Flip ones you mention George and they look really good.

  2. I have gone through a doo wop phase or two in my life. You have chosen one of the greats. I suppose this post will get me on the kick again. That's all it usually takes. By the way, yesterday I ordered that Gerry & Terry comp Cherry Red put out some years back. See what I mean?

    1. You'll not be disappointed Brian with the T&G collection. Really looking forward to my Chris Stamey CD arriving. Got a few days off next week so going to try and catch up on some new stuff that I haven't got round to listening to yet...
