Living On A Reservation...
A few weeks back a good friend managed to get hold of two guest passes to Status Quo's gig at Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall. Well sort of. The passes came courtesy of the support act, the wonderful Terry and Gerry, and were for both acts but we only stayed to watch the UK's finest skiffle band. Apparently hand picked for the support act by The Quo themselves, it turned out to be a totally inspired choice. Glasgow audiences aren't always the easiest to win over, but Terry and Gerry had them eating out the palm of their hands by the end of the first number. By the end of their too short set they had bagged themselves a whole new set of fans, most of whom may not even have known who they were beforehand. Although they were understandably nervous, it was easy to hear why Peel was such a big fan of them with such great tunes as Clothes Shop and Reservation taking centre stage in what was a hugely entertaining and lively set. You could sense from the off how excited they were to be there and how much they were enjoying performing again. Although they only released one album and a handful of singles they still hold a special place in many people's hearts, not least mine. This was the first time I had seen them live, but hopefully they will play another gig soon in Glasgow. Be great to them play somewhere like King Tut's or Stereo. C'mon lads, how about another show in one of your favourite cities ?
